Crimes of the poor get everyone's attention; parents, media, police, etc. Unlike wage theft, for instance.

    Fact: Grocery prices are up 30% since 2019. (Source: NIQ). Fact: Grocery unit volumes are flat or down in most categories since 2019. Fact: 65% of all grocery sales are controlled by 6 companies. (Source: Numerator). Inflation was a direct result of market concentration, and the pricing power of large firms across all sectors of the food supply. One of the central arguments against the idea that inflation was caused by profiteering in highly concentrated industries was that consumer demand spiked.
