1. IntroductionTitanium and its alloys are applied in a wide range of industries due to their outstanding mechanical and chemical properties, such as high strength/weight ratio, high elastic modulus, and excellent corrosion resistance. Specifically, the remarkable biocompatibility and good mechanical properties at elevated service temperatures make titanium alloys especially desirable for use in biomedical and aerospace industries, respectively [1,2].
