The authorities got a HDB home owner in Serangoon Central to declutter the space outside her Housing Board unit, which includes removing a wooden “sauna” cabin that has been there for years. This Serangoon sauna was a hot topic among netizens after a photo of it was circulated online around the 10 July 2024, sparking questions about whether such items were allowed in common spaces of HDB blocks. The sauna cabin allegedly belongs to the unit directly across the corridor from it.

Alkaff Oasis is a HDB BTO project launched in the February 2016 BTO launch. Located at 110 Bidadari Park Drive, it is part of the transformation of the Bidadari housing estate in the Toa Payoh planning area. The Bidadari area was formerly occupied by a cemetery. The graves have since been exhumed to make way for the new housing estate. Unsurprisingly, this generated quite a bit of controversy when the redevelopment plans were first announced.
