AbstractGrowth-regulating factors (GRFs) are plant-specific transcription factors involved in the regulation of plant growth, development, and abiotic stress processes. However, the function of Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss GRFs remain largely unknown. In this study, 34 BjGRF genes were identified in B. juncea. BjGRF members of the same subfamily were found to share a similar motif composition and gene structure.

The celery variety ‘Jinyun Baoqin’ (seeds obtained from Tianjin Cultivated Seed Co., Ltd.) was used as the plant material. Celery seeds were disinfected, soaked, and sprouted in 5 cm × 5 cm × 5 cm nutrient bowls containing a specific growth medium. Subsequently, the Petri dishes were placed in an artificial climate incubator under the following conditions: temperature of 23 °C/18°C (day/night), humidity of 70%, photoperiod of 14 h light/10 h dark, and light intensity of 1000 µmol m− 2 s− 1.
