Festival season hits high gear this weekend, with the Salem Super Cruise beginning today and running through Sunday. The Coop’s Carnival festival opens a four-day run today at Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon, Pa. And the Columbiana Wine Festival will take place Saturday. It all follows last weekend’s impressive string of concerts that opened the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. The shows included rising country star Riley Green; Lita Ford and The Vindys; and Coheed & Cambria and Mastodon.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Some 15 years after Gil Mantera’s Party Dream called it quits, the offbeat electro-rock duo will reunite for an Aug. 23 show at Penguin City Brewing. The announcement was preceded by subtle hints on the band’s mostly dormant Facebook page last month and eventually sparked a rush for tickets. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – “Almost, Maine” may be a popular part of the community theater repertoire, but it also draws its share of criticism. The focal point will be a large screen on the stage that will display photos from past shows and events, according to music director Rick Blackson. Two readers, one male and one female, will tell the theater’s story, broken down by its 10 decades.

LISBON, Ohio – In many ways, The Tipsy Farmer is the quintessential Ohio winery. Tucked away in bucolic farm country in the rolling hills west of Lisbon, it is rural and relaxed. Before the crowds show up, the only sounds you’ll hear are birds and the occasional bleating of a goat. Like most Buckeye State wineries, The Tipsy Farmer’s offerings tend toward the sweet side.
