Schwalbe’s Rocket Ron has been one of the best XC tires for ages, particularly as the front wheel partner to Racing Ralph. While Racing Ray has now replaced it for drier conditions, Rocket Ron is still a brilliantly versatile high-velocity tire for front or rear use all year round. That comes at a high price and relatively high weight, though, and we’d like to mix up the compound and carcass options more.

Its short-travel Sensor ST Carbon Pro trail mountain bike delivers a bang up to date, easy riding experience. It's great for playing in the local woods, wild singletrack or long days out, but is happy on the more hardcore stuff too. At its reduced price, the Sensor ST Carbon Pro is one of the best budget full-sus bikes around too.

Calibre’s original Bossnut was unbeatable as a budget full suspension bike from 2015 to 2020. After becoming a Covid casualty, it’s now back in a totally new build that brings it bang up to date in terms of geometry, handling and hard riding focus. It’s amazing value for money too, but the rear shock tune will split opinion between senders and smoother riders.
