The Chippewas participating in the workout included defensive linemen Jacques Bristol, Robi Staurt, and Maurice White along with punter Jake Walrath, offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods and wide receiver Kenny Brewer III.

The Fresh Coast Maritime Challenge Program began earlier this year to move from diesel to electric powered boats on the great lakes. The program has invested $500,000 between six companies to create a network of charging facilities and electric boats. Lilypad Labs is a Michigan based company who received $135,000 from the program.

Public health messaging has taken a hit since the pandemic. The politicization COVID-19, misinformation, and an overall distrust with public institutions is making public health officials worried. During the pandemic more people were staying home and not going to the doctor for routine medical care. Now, years since COVID began, there are spillover effects that affect things like routine childhood immunizations.

CADILLAC — Tourists and Cadillac area natives alike are hitting the local beaches this summer. The dry conditions in June and early July have given people the chance to get outside and enjoy the water. “They’re predicting great weather this week, so I’m really excited,” Cadillac resident Elaine Sterkenburg said. Sterkenburg brought her grandchildren to Kenwood Park to play recently. “This is a great place for the kids to play, the water is clean and warm,” Sterkenburg said.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is extending a program that provides portable air ventilation units to schools across the state. The program began because of the pandemic; however, the air purifiers are not only beneficial to getting rid of viruses. The units also help clean the air of allergens and other particulate matter. As a recent example, the recent air quality alerts from Canadian Wildfires.
