1 INTRODUCTION Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) represents a medical emergency due to a distinct coagulopathy, prompt diagnosis, and urgent treatment are critical. In addition to morphology, chromosome and fusion gene evaluation, immunophenotypic analysis by flow cytometry has become the standard diagnostic approach due to its effectiveness and rapid results for APL.
