Introduction Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a disease with high morbidity and a high risk of death (1). Reportedly, there are ~10 million cases of VTE annually worldwide (2), and the incidence of VTE can be as high as 0.2% per year (3). VTE has become the third leading cause of cardiovascular disease-related death (4). Effective prevention of VTE can significantly reduce its incidence, and VTE risk assessment plays a crucial role in clinical practice (5).
