    Dr. Haki R. Madhubuti, poet, author, publisher, and educator, is regarded as an architect of the Black Arts Movement and is founder and publisher of Chicago's Third World Press. Third World Press celebrated its 55th anniversary in September of 2022. Madhubuti has published more than 36 books, including Think Black (1967); Black Pride (1968); Don’t Cry, Scream (1969); and We Walk the Way of the New World (1970). His poetry and essays have been selected for more than 100 anthologies.

    Chicagoans are invited to attend a celebration of life service for Third World Press co-founder Dr. Johari M. Amini-Hudson whomade her transition on December 12, 2023. She also co-founded the Institute of Positive Education (established in 1969). Johari was a gifted poet and contributor to the Black Arts Movement, especially in Chicago. She also was a gifted chiropractor.
