The Ohio Senate proposed a budget that includes a flat 2.75% income tax, property tax changes and Medicaid cuts. The budget also includes expanded homestead exemptions for seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. Medicaid funding would be cut by 1% in 2026 and 1.5% in 2027 under the proposal. Wealthy Ohioans could get a $1.1 billion tax cut under a plan from the Ohio Senate that would also cut Medicaid and overhaul the property tax system.
