This week, I thought the Penguins played on Thursday, so I wore my Jake Shake t-shirt in support of the team, hoping that I could spirit my way into a half-priced dairy treat. I was actually incorrect, and the Penguins only played on Monday and Saturday. Here’s how it went:On Oct. 30, the Pens faced off against their fellow aquatic birds, the Ducks. Erik Karlsson opened scoring for Pittsburgh in the first, but he’d be answered by the Ducks a mere five minutes later.

Gee whiz, it sure has been a while, hasn’t it, gang? The Penguins have played so many games! I haven’t even seen you since the beginning of the season! We have so much to cover, let’s get down to business. We’re currently eight games into the season, and by golly, do I wish I had picked a different team right now! The Pens aren’t doing like… terrible. But they’re really not doing great either. I have been reluctant to tune into games because they’ve just been stressing me out.

The Penguins certainly did play some hockey this week! It definitely went! On Monday, the Penguins returned to captain Sidney Crosby’s motherland of Nova Scotia to face off against the Senators. The Senators opened scoring eight minutes into the first and then scored again 10 minutes later to put the Pens down 0-2. After a scoreless second, and most of a scoreless third, the Pens pulled goaltender Tristan Jarry for an extra attacker.

It’s finally here gang, hockey is back!! And by golly let me tell you, I am so excited to see how this season plays out. Here’s what happened last week:On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Penguins formed split teams and played a double-header against the Blue Jackets. At home, the Pens came out strong in the first with a goal from Alex Nylander nine minutes in, followed by another from P.O. Joseph at 17.

Content warning: smallpoxWe’re back to one of my longest running fixations and greatest fears, folks: smallpox. I’m so afraid of it I don’t think I can even be funny about it, so we’ll just launch right in. Smallpox is a terrifying disease which ran amok in the human population throughout the world for centuries. It is spread through airborne particles released when the infected breathes/coughs/etc., or even through the scabs which fall off of the actual pox marks themselves as the afflicted heals.

When I was first getting ready to ship off to college, I was repeatedly bombarded with stories of poor, dumb freshmen plagued with scurvy.

In fact, you’ve probably seen more than a few deer lurking around, and doing so quite close to roads and buildings. While they may seem cute and adorable, Pittsburgh is unfortunately facing a big issue with deer overpopulation.

Sports 29 days until hockey season starts, 12 until preseason. Beloved readers, it’s nearly time for the puck to drop. A lot has happened since the Penguins blew it last season — let’s have a little review. First, the front office was cleared out. As we know, basically everyone was fired at the end of last season: General Manager Ron Hextall, Assistant General Manager Chris Pryor, and President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke.
