After a twenty-year high in late 2023, interest rates are down, with the long-awaited rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September. This cut, which brought the benchmark Federal Funds interest rate down to 4.75-5.00%, was the first made since March 2020. The Fed also signaled a program of expected rate cuts that will lower the benchmark rate by an additional 200 basis points by the end of 2026.
