    On Thursday, May 1, Tedeschi Trucks Band participated in their initial festival commitment during Sun, Sand, and Soul weekend at the Seascape Golf Course in Miramar Beach, Fla. The band's set produced nods to blues greats on select covers, intermixed with a rousing selection of originals and an extraordinary two-song sit-in from fellow festival participant Bonnie Raitt. On night two of the event, Raitt returned the favor, welcoming the pair on select numbers.

This cycle of the Jazz Fest represents the first Big Easy gathering since Lesh’s demise; the event’s timing allowed a roster of 13+ former collaborators, friends, and admirers to pay musical homage to the bass bomb-blasting originalist.

    Founding member of the Velvet Underground, John Cale, appeared on the new Netflix variety show, Everybody's Live With John Mulaney. During the musician's appearance on the program, he performed a feature from his 2024 studio LP, POPtical Illusion, with help from Maggie Rogers. For the televised performance, the pair chose "Shark-Shark," a punchy piece that recalls Cale's alt-punk roots through a surge of industrial-laden beats and a flying guitar solo.

    Widespread Panic keyboardist Jojo Hermann has dropped his summer tour dates. On deck are six live dates, slated to pick up on June 12 at The Westerner in Gallatin Gateway, Mont., before shifting locations for night two in Big Sky Country, June 13 at The Showdown in The Triple S, McAllister, Mont. Following a pair of Western-facing dates, the musician will rejoin his Peach State bandmates for their annual sold-out run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., on June 27-29.

    My Morning Jacket treated their Louisville, Ky. hometown to five nights of songs from April 25-27 and 29-30. The concerts took place at the Louisville Palace Theatre. Each night included special offerings that ranged from guest appearances to first-time covers and live debuts. Night one, Friday, April 25, was modest compared to the ensuing turnout of first-time plays and dust-offs that would decorate the setlists during concerts to come.
