In Tuesday night’s debate, former President Donald Trump reprised a frequent campaign talking point, asserting that “crime here is up and through the roof.” When ABC News moderator David Muir cited FBI evidence that overall violent crime had declined, Trump countered, “They didn’t include the cities with the worst crime! It was fraud!”This was classic Trump. Over the last eight years, Trump has fanned fears of violence in America by conflating crime, immigration and cities.
