WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The Trump administration wants a big boost in funding for its immigration agenda. On Tuesday Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem testified in front of lawmakers to discuss that request. The White House is asking Congress to appropriate $175 billion in new funding for its border enforcement efforts. Congressman Tom Cole says the Republican controlled House needs to pass a package that allows the Trump administration to continue its immigration crackdown.

Education Department to start debt collection on student loans next month

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - Advocates warn that millions of student loan borrowers could be in big financial trouble when a new Trump administration policy takes effect. Starting on May 5th the Education Department plans to resume sending student loans that are in default to collections. "The government can and will collect defaulted federal student loan debt by withholding money from borrowers' tax refunds, federal pensions, and even their wages," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Leaders from both countries had an initial meeting in Oman on Saturday and are planning for another round of talks this weekend. On Monday President Trump talked about how Iran is dangerously close to having a nuclear weapon. “These are radicalized people, they cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.
