    The Gillett Fire Department will host its 38th annual fish fry on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station, located at 3rd and Main in Gillett. For a $15 minimum donation, enjoy fried fish, fries, beans, slaw, other sides, and homemade cakes for dessert. Fire Chief Monty Young says that all proceeds support the fire department. “We have a lot of stuff we need. This is the way we get it. Financing, it’s hard to get anything anymore. It takes all the money we can get,” said Young.

In Arkansas County, the organization has been serving local kids for 10 years. Sarah Moore, the board chair of Arkansas County’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, said the program has taken off since beginning locally in Dec. 2014. “They worked really hard the first year and got 199 kids enrolled.
