The Trump administration does not plan to release pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, officials wrote in a letter Friday, despite a federal judge's ruling that Khalil could not be held or removed from the country on the basis that he poses a threat to national security. Earlier in the week, Judge Michael Farbiarz ruled the government could not deport or detain Khalil based on Secretary of State Marco Rubio's determination that he poses a threat to U.S. foreign policy interests.

A study guide for the 10th grade New York State Regents Exam that calls Zionism "an example of extreme nationalism" is drawing outrage in a Long Island school district and across social media. The review sheet, labelled "Unit 10.7 - Decolonization and Nationalism" also describes Zionism as the "belief that Jews need a homeland in Palestine" and falsely claims "every war ended with Israel getting more land."The study guide quickly circulated on social media, drawing the ire of New York Reps.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit hopes to make bus and subway rides a little less sour, with a new pickle-themed campaign reminding riders to steer clear of jarring behavior. “Keep it kosher,” one sign reads, “Littering. Salty language. Messy food. That stuff spoils the ride for everyone.” The text is accompanied by an image of anthropomorphic pickle and hot dog passengers.

In an effort to bring some much needed clarity to the chaotic New York City mayoral race, I have ranked the candidates exclusively based on their bagel orders, as told to The New York Times, the Forward, and other outlets. Criteria included the order's specificity, originality, relatability, and, most importantly, how I think the orders would taste.
