The Shelby County Recycling District Citizens Advisory Committee and Board of Directors heard a pitch from Shelby Senior Services Transportation Director Easter Beyer during its joint meeting Thursday evening. Thanks to a substantial increase in tipping fees coming in monthly from Waste Management, the district has been able to offer grants for special projects. Among these projects are the possibility of purchasing ShelbyGo a new vehicle for its fleet.

Following a three-year lapse of payment, the City of Shelbyville Common Council approved to continue supporting ShelbyGo’s operations during its Monday evening meeting. For 16 years prior to 2022, the city has provided Shelby Senior Services $25,000 for its ShelbyGo operations. The Shelby County Commissioners approved two contracts, two rezone requests, and one transfer of funds during its Monday morning meeting. The first contract came from the Purdue Extension Office. Director Diane Stone said this is a five year contract for the office's postal meter. The cost is $82.06 per month, about eight dollars cheaper than the previous contract.
