Southwestern Jr./Sr. High School's agriculture program is taking flight thanks to a grant from the Blue River Community Foundation. The $13,000 grant allowed the school to purchase a drone that can be used for spraying farm fields, Ag teacher Steve Shaw said. The Shelby County Drainage Board heard a concern from a Timberbrook resident Monday morning. The neighborhood is located near State Road 9 and 500 N. Jared Hoop, who lives at 658 E. Timberbrook Estates, said that his property is at the bottom of a hill and takes on all the water.

The City of Shelbyville Board of Public Works and Safety Tuesday approved two Public Square road closures for some upcoming summer events. The first is to close West Washington Street from Harrison to the bank alley from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday starting May 10 to Sept. 27 for Mainstreet Shelbyville's Farmers Market.
