    New draft legislation shows that the Seattle City Council may amend the City's Code of Ethics to allow members to vote in their own financial interest. Under the proposed rules, council members could vote in their own financial interest the member publicly discloses their "appearance" of a conflict at an open public meeting of the council or one of its committees.

    Weather: Don’t let the sunshine deceive you. You’ll need a jacket today! This morning will start off with temperatures in the high 30s, but move up to the low 40s around lunchtime. Temperatures will top off to about 44 around 3pm, which will also be the sunniest part of the day. Then the clouds will overtake the sun and temperatures will sink back down, dipping all the way back to the high 30s in the evening.

    It’s finally here! The City Clerk has released a list of 20 “qualified applicants,” one of whom will fill the vacant seat left by former District 2 Council Member Tammy Morales. So far, it's unclear which, if any, of the applicants embody the c progressive spirit that voters endorsed with Morales at the end of 2023. Even if there was a suitable successor in the pool, it’s unlikely that the conservative majority would appoint someone who aligned with the member they allegedly bullied off the dais.

    Scarf weather: I’m trying to become a scarf-wearing girlie and today’s a pretty good day to help solidify that identity. The morning will start out cloudy with temperatures in the low 40s. Then the sun will peak out around 11 am and temperatures will steadily rise to a high of 46 around 2 pm. Then, as these things tend to go, the temperatures will drift back down as it gets dark. Sounds like scarf weather to me!  California update: Southern California is still very much on fire.
