A heavy police presence was reported in Six Nations of the Grand River on Wednesday morning as officers from multiple agencies executed a warrant at a tobacco manufacturing facility. Both Ontario Provincial Police and Six Nations Police were on scene. OPP confirmed there was an active investigation in the area of Chiefswood Road between 3rd and 4th Lines. Chiefswood Road was closed for a time but has since reopened, according to a social media post.

Police are investigating after a woman in her 60s was nearly the victim of a distraction theft outside a Guelph bank Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 4 p.m., the woman called police after leaving a bank near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North. She said she had placed her purse in her vehicle when a man approached, yelling that something was wrong with her car and pointing to wires hanging down.

First responders were at the scene of a barn fire in West Perth on Wednesday morning. In a post to social media at 11:45 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police said officers, along with the West Perth Fire Department, were called to a property on Line 28. There is no word on any injuries or what caused the blaze. The road is closed between Perth Road 180 and Road 181. Police are asking the public to avoid the area.

There was a heavy police presence in Oshweken on Wednesday morning. Ontario Provincial Police confirmed there was an active investigation in the area of Chiefswood Road between 3rd and 4th Lines. Six Nations Police were also on scene. Chiefswood Road was closed for a time but it has since reopened, according to a social media post by Six Nations Police. Police said they could not provide any additional information at this time. More to come.

Police are investigating after an attempted break-in at a west-end Guelph business early Tuesday. Guelph Police officers were called to a store on Silvercreek Parkway North after the owner arrived to find the front door damaged and a large crack in the glass. Police said security footage showed a man arriving at the business around 2:30 a.m. and using an unknown tool to pry at the door near the lock.
