In Hochatown, it was starting to look like the eclipse viewing was going to be a dud. Mary Horn and her friends traveled to Hochatown from Oklahoma City, “We talked about leaving,” she said. They thought there would be a lot of people, and this particular parking lot was supposed to have parking for $80. However, since no one showed up, they got to park for free.

Several animal shelters and adoption agencies will be hosting the Hope for Humanity pet adoption event in Edmond this weekend. The event is scheduled to last from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at a large field just south of Oklahoma Chiropractic on Kelly Avenue in Edmond.

At the end of this month, the Turner Turnpike will be undergoing a major expansion project. The Turner Turnpike is going to be three lanes, both directions, all the way from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. In less than two weeks, barriers will be going up and prep work will start for the two-year project. This part of the widening project will start at Kellyville and continue west to Bristow, with the plan to eventually continue all the way to Oklahoma City.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has updated some of its equipment, and that's going to improve forecasting here in Oklahoma. Earlier this month, NOAA expanded the capacity of the nation’s Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System by 20 percent. A supercomputer is basically a bunch of computers working together to power something that needs a lot of data, time and computing power.
