    With leaf blowers in hand and trucks in tow, crews from Keene Public Works scoured the city early Tuesday morning, removing leaf piles from the sides of local roads. Community members were instructed to rake their free-standing leaves to the edge of the street carefully, to avoid storm-drain interference. Tuesday marked the start of the second and last week of the annual leaf removal service, and a general schedule can be found on the city of Keene's website.

    This year, HCS joined a statewide push with the N.H. Transit Association to help improve access to the polls for community members who cannot drive or get to the polls on their own. Locally, HCS's Friendly Bus provided about 17 community members with rides to the polls in each of Keene's wards. Charles Pratt, HCS transportation manager, explained that this effort aligns with the organization's goal to care for community from birth until death.

    Six candles were lit Monday evening in the Keene High auditorium for victims of Nazism, as well as for children, refugees, righteous among nations, targets of hate and for the community at the annual Kristallnacht Remembrance event hosted by Keene State College’s Cohen Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

    Josh Berntsen of Keene gathered six friends and fellow cyclists Sunday morning in Keene for a 41-mile journey through the Elm City, Swanzey and Winchester. The route, named the 2024 Fall Fooliage Rideas an homage to a long-running April Fools ride, took the riders through six covered bridges and countless foliage views.
