An interest in journeys is key for jeweller Shola Branson, who has crafted his new collection entirely in fully traceable 18 carat Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold. Branson has chosen brushed gold from the Sabodala mine in Senegal for the Fragments collection, which draws from both antique and modern inspirations. Stones, including Colombian emeralds, white and brown diamonds, tourmalines, and sapphires, are set on blackened gold and rendered in a distinctive cartouche shape.

I visit Michaela Yearwood-Dan in her bright Hackney studio weeks before the opening of her debut exhibition at Hauser & Wirth in London, the first since the gallery announced representation last year, making her one of the youngest artists on its roster. It’s been a rapid rise for the artist, who left her part-time jobs as a nanny and an art teacher in 2018 to give being an artist a serious go.

Jewellery designer Kimy Gringoire’s sculptural pieces rest at the intersection of jewellery and design. Gringoire, who is known for her large, heart-shaped precious cables, has enjoyed playing with proportions in the past, passing the pieces through walls or curving them into functional benches or lamps. It is a love-filled concept she is continuing to build on with the release of new pieces. Smaller forms encompass silver rings and a mini lamp crafted in steel and bronze.
