Nine cows have been killed after a power cable came down at a west Cornwall farm during Storm Darragh. The livestock were sheltering under a hedge at Higher Bojewyan near Pendeen on Saturday night, said the farmer. Fallen power cables and trees closed a number of roads in Cornwall during the storm which brought winds of 67mph (107km/h) to the area. Western Power Engineers have been at the scene and the farmer said he was unable to go anywhere near the field as it was too dangerous.

A Newquay boxing project for people with Parkinson's and a young fundraiser from Illogan were among the winners at the BBC Radio Cornwall Make a Difference Awards ceremony. It is the third year the awards have been handed out to recognise and celebrate people who make a difference in their communities. The eight categories included bravery, community, volunteer and a new award for animals - with the winners announced at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth on Thursday night.

Cornish villages and parishes are "constantly" asking for 20mph zones, the the person in charge of Cornwall's road policy has said. Richard Williams-Pears, transport portfolio holder at Cornwall Council, said the schemes had been popular with many people. In Cornwall 20mph zones are in place in Camborne, Redruth, Illogan, Truro and on the Roseland. "A lot of people really like it," he said.

Ken Watts said his wife Joan was always well-dressedThe family of a Bude woman say donating her large collection of high-quality clothing to charity after her death has helped them deal with their loss. Joan Watts left four wardrobes full of clothes when she died in November after several years of living with dementia. Her husband Ken, 91, has now given her cherished outfits to local charities after an appeal on social media.
