All 13 Oregon State University international students who had their records terminated by the Trump administration earlier this month, have been reinstated, according to an OSU spokesperson Rob Odom. The news comes as the University of Oregon also reports some of its international students saw their visas restored and follows the Trump administration reversing course after staring down numerous legal challenges in response to its nixing the legal status of thousands of international students.

It looks like Waverly Lake will be without paddle boats this summer. According to Albany’s Parks and Recreation Director Kim Lyddane, that’s because of rising operating costs, aging equipment and hotter and more smoke-filled summers. Expenses for the city's paddle boat rental program have risen since 2020 and ridership hasn’t kept pace, Lyddane said.

A national organization that ardently supports the separation of church and state is flagging a recent move by a Sweet Home city official. The Freedom From Religion Foundation is calling on Mayor Susan Coleman to rescind her National Day of Prayer proclamation because it “blatantly elevates Christianity over all other religions,” according to a news release from the organization.

Like other Oregon school districts, Greater Albany Public Schools is facing a budgetary shortfall amid declining enrollments and rising staff costs. District Business and Finance Director Jane Nofziger how estimates the deficit is around $5 million, less than the previously projected $6 million earlier this year but still daunting. District officials acknowledge cuts are on the horizon. How many positions the district will reduce is uncertain at this this stage.

That news comes as the Trump administration reverses course on nixing the legal status of thousands of international students, amid legal challenges nationwide, including in Oregon where attorneys have filed a lawsuit on behalf of an OSU student. A government lawyer announced the reversal, Friday, April 25.
