1 Introduction In the last decades, numerous metamorphic rocks were dated using the U–Pb isotopic signature of zircon. However, the assignments of determined ages and specific metamorphic events were often speculative in corresponding studies. Other U–(Th)–Pb minerals such as monazite are also suitable for dating such events. However, zircon and monazite, when occurring in the same rock, do not necessarily yield similar ages (e.g., Piechocka et al. 2017).

1 INTRODUCTION Eclogite is a rock type that is important for understanding the subduction and collision of plates in the Earth's history. The common potassic phase in fresh eclogite is phengite (e.g., Nakamura, 2003). Biotite (includes Fe-bearing phlogopite throughout the entire paper) is usually described as retrograde product formed by marginal decomposition of eclogitic garnet and phengite (e.g., Franz et al., 1986; Zhu et al., 2007).
