INTRODUCTION The gut microbiota, referred to as the second genome of an organism, comprise trillions of microorganisms and plays a critical role in host functions such as food digestion, nutrient metabolism, energy acquisition, pathogen resistance, immune regulation, and brain development (Adak & Khan, 2019; Lee et al., 2022; de Vos et al., 2022). This complex microbial population involves bacteria, eukaryotes, archaea, viruses, and parasites (Adak & Khan, 2019).
