Acute lung injury (ALI), a common critical disease in clinical practice, has a mortality rate as high as 30–40 %, yet currently, no effective treatment methods are available. Research on ALI indicated that inhibition of overexpressed inflammatory factors might be a potential treatment for ALI. In this study, a series of cinnamic acid derivatives were obtained by introducing diverse aminothiazole fragments into the natural product cinnamic acid.

Giardia lamblia is a dimorphic intestinal protozoan causing gastrointestinal illness (giardiasis) in an estimated 1.2 million persons in the US and 280 million people worldwide making Giardia a major cause of intestinal illness.1, 2, 3 The symptoms of giardiasis include diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), indigestion, weight loss, malabsorption and gastric pain. Giardiasis is endemic in developing nations and children below five years old are vulnerable.
