Great for smaller lawns, there are some neat premium features included. The Yard Force LM C37B is a capable mower that has several premium features for a reasonable price. Adjusting the cut height is easy, it comes with two batteries, and you can easily tell when the grass collection box is full, but it can be a pain to put together and fold up. If you’re already running Yard Force garden equipment, this is a solid choice.

Flexible, powerful and able to cut through even tough weeds. A very powerful tool, the Stihl FSA 70 R is ergonomically designed for easy handling. It's pretty long and bulky for storage, but it's a brilliant brushcutter, able to deal with the thickest of growth with ease. For bigger jobs, this is a brilliant choice.

Light, quiet(ish) and simple to use. Although the name Whisper is pushing it a little bit, this trimmer is indeed quite quiet. At least the motor is. With serious amounts of power and torque in low power mode, slicing through long grass and weeds is a piece of cake. It’s comfortable to hold on to as well.

A great choice for the smaller garden. The Aspire range of gardening tools by Husqvarna all manage to provide a compact and good looking solution to grass problems. Packing down neatly and sharing batteries with hundreds of tools makes the Husqvarna Aspire T28-P4A great, but the cut width lags behind other, bigger trimmers.

A powerful lawn mower for medium-sized gardens. A solidly built and hugely reliable mower for medium size gardens, the Ryobi RY18LMX40B has everything you’d expect from this brand and at this price. With space for two batteries on board, three cutting speeds, and seven cutting heights, it’s ideal for regularly shaped gardens. The only drawbacks are that it’s not quite so easy to get in and out of awkward corners, and you’re parting with lots of cash if you need batteries to go with the machine.
