After multiple rounds of delays and months of no new information, Square Enix has officially canceled Missing Link. While this cancellation might seem shocking, if you’ve paid attention to Square Enix’s mobile efforts, it’s not entirely a surprise.

    One of my core gaming memories as a teenager is being hunched over my PC until 4AM, spending eight hours straight on runs of Left 4 Dead with my group of friends. Left 4 Dead’s unique blend of co-op and horde survival was literally infectious, and although other games have tried, nothing in the decades since has been able to scratch that same itch.

    For nearly two years there’s been a running gag in the Tekken community, with fans begging producer Katsuhiro Harada to put a Waffle House stage in the game. If you’re unsure why that would be a thing, or you aren’t local to one, the Waffle House is where you can go to get a deeply cheap but filling meal at 3am — but it’s also notorious for fights. You can find dozen of low-res TikToks of fights at Waffle House, including the incredible one where a worker parries a chair.

    I worked at Target over a decade ago, and every payday, a group of guys from the backroom would drop $200 each on the newest shipment of Magic: The Gathering cards. As someone who obsessively collected things, I said then and there I couldn’t get into Magic... but then Final Fantasy came along. I want to get my grubby hands on these cards, not just because they look pretty, but because of how impressively the new Final Fantasy set adapts the video game’s ideas and mechanics.

    With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth now in the rearview mirror, all eyes are on the third and final piece of the remake trilogy. While we don’t even know the name of the third game yet, we do have a glimpse at what could be the new design for Safer Sephiroth, the villain’s iconic final form... and it’s thanks to Magic: The Gathering. While it’s a cryptic hint, it has some interesting implications.
