About 10,000 Western Sydney University students have had their personal information accessed and shared in major recent cyber attacks. They will receive a notification next week from the university which has apologised for the attacks. Unauthorised access to current and former students’ data was gained through one of the university’s single sign-on (SSO) systems, with incidents flagged in February and March, Western Sydney University said.

A woman in her 60s was found hiding in a wardrobe when police tracked the GPS ankle bracelet of man allegedly breaching his Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) in Sydney’s south on Wednesday. The 45-year-old man, and a knife he allegedly stashed knife nearby, were also discovered inside the woman’s Narellan Vale home when police searched the premises about 11.50am.

A 48-year-old man from Ngunnawal has been arrested after he allegedly committed an indecent act in a library in the ACT. Police spoke to witnesses and staff at Gungahlin Library, in Canberra’s north, after the incident occurred about 1.30pm on Tuesday. The 48-year-old man was found a short time later in the shopping centre nearby. He was arrested and will be issued with a summons to appear in court at a later date.

A Queensland Police officer is facing court over allegations of serious misconduct. The senior constable, 54, was charged with serious assault, breaching a domestic violence order, and being a public nuisance. He has been suspended from the Queensland Police Service. The 54-year-old man is expected to face Maryborough Magistrates Court on May 6.

A man has died after a crash between a truck and ute on the Nullarbor in South Australia. The 83-year-old Western Australian man was driving a ute on the Eyre Hwy when the vehicles crashed 75km from the WA border about 6am on Tuesday. He sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to hospital where he died later that afternoon, SA Police said.
