The No. 24 Florida men’s tennis team travels to No. 10 Florida State University on Friday. The Gators come into this weekend after receiving their first loss of the season to No.7 Columbia in the ITA kickoff weekend. The Gators just fell short after an intense 4-2 battle to the Lions. The team lost the doubles point, but secured a little momentum in singles play with wins from Kevin Edengren and No. 106 Henry Jefferson. Battled 'til the end.

The Florida Gators men’s tennis team swept Middle Tennessee on Saturday before falling to No.7 Columbia on Day 2 of the ITA Kickoff Weekend in New York City. Saturday’s MatchFlorida came out strong against Middle Tennessee. The doubles tem of Tanapatt Nirundorn-Henry Jefferson defeated Ondrej Horak-Kaira Al-Amin, 6-2, followed by another 6-2 win from Adhithya Ganesan-Ben Weintraub that secured Florida the doubles point.

The No. 24 Florida Gators men’s tennis team enters the ITA’s Kick-Off Weekend in New York City as the No.2 seed. The ITA event serves as the beginning of the dual match season for college tennis. The Gators face No. 3 seed Middle Tennessee at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Gators started their 2025 season strong with a 6-1 win against Georgia Southern last Monday. The Gators won the doubles point 2-1, with Henry Jefferson-Tanapatt Mirundorn and Kevin Edengren-Jeremy Jin securing the wins.

Former Florida tennis star No.21 Ben Shelton will face off against No.1 ranked Italian Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Australian Open after defeating Lorenzo Sonego (6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6). Shelton is the youngest male player in 22 years to make it to this level of the Australian Open. Shelton defeated unseeded Italian player, Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinals. The pair played an intense match that concluded with a fourth set tiebreaker.

Former Gators tennis star Ben Shelton advanced to the Australian Open quarterfinals for the second time in his career Monday after Gaël Monfils was forced to retire mid-match with a back injury. Shelton, who reached also the quarters in Melbourne in 2023, led Monfils 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 1-0 before the ailing Monfils could not continue. Seeking his second career appearance in major tournament semifinal, the 21st-seeded Shelton advanced to play 29-year-old Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

The Florida men’s tennis team will open its spring season Monday against Georgia Southern at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex at 11 a.m ET. The Gators are ranked No. 24 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as they move into the spring. They are also currently ranked No. 11 in the SEC. As the Gators gear up for the 2025 season, sophomore Jeremy Jin is the team’s highest-ranked singles player, holds the No. 71 spot in the ITA rankings.

Florida women’s basketball is seeking another road win against Ole Miss Thursday evening after a dominating win against Missouri (11-8). The Gators are 11-7 overall and 2-2 in the SEC, while the Rebels are 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the SEC as the conference slate gains steam. Florida and Ole Miss have played each other 45 times in the history of both programs. The Gators have won 24 of these games, however, UF has struggled as of late against the Oxford, Mississippi, natives.
