A 20-year-old Georgia resident who was wrongfully detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Florida has been released about 24 hours later. Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez was taken into custody on April 16 during a traffic stop. He was in a vehicle with others who had traveled from Georgia and was headed to a job in Florida.

Nearly 200 days after being inaugurated, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum's administration has helped reduce fentanyl trafficking by 64.3%—or nearly 500 million doses of the lethal synthetic opioid—according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
