    A Labrador woman says long-standing issues in the province’s healthcare system need to change before anyone else has an experience similar to the one she recently had. Ann Marie Tobin went to the emergency room in Happy Valley-Goose Bay in April. The 62-year-old longtime community volunteer was experiencing dizziness and leg and stomach swelling, which was unusual for her. Tobin was diagnosed with heart failure and told she needed a pacemaker.

    The head of Labrador’s central airport says he was shocked and disappointed by the provincial government’s recent announcement that it will potentially subsidize air travel for tourists on the island while Labradorians face barriers to necessary air travel due to high costs. On April 29 the province announced an air service agreement with PAL Airlines for an “intraprovincial air travel loop” between St. John’s, Gander and Deer Lake.

    Philip Earle was the first MP-Elect announced to have won his riding in Canada during Monday’s federal election.
