Under a new Food and Drug Administration policy, only individuals 65 and older, or those with listed risk factors, will automatically qualify for the updated fall COVID-19 vaccine. Healthy people between 6 months and 64 years old will have to wait until more research is completed. The changes are raising concerns for Dr. Kay Rhee. Nearly of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. A research team at UC San Diego is trying to find out why and whether lifestyle changes could help prevent it. Blanca, a 64-year-old Mexican immigrant, said losing her Medi-Cal coverage would be devastating. We’re only using her first name to protect her identity. Under Gov. Newsom’s proposal to offset the state deficit, immigrants without legal status already enrolled in Medi-Cal would face a $100 monthly premium starting in 2027. New applicants could be blocked from enrolling entirely as soon as 2026. For Blanca, losing coverage would mean no access to doctors, medications, or preventative care.

Harvey and Marion Yurow depend on a local senior ride-share program to get to medical appointments. But the program is struggling to recruit volunteer drivers. My latest for @KPBS - https://t.co/Zy9Hve6RUX via @YouTube

For Susan Castro, Ralph, a scruffy 6-year-old Norfolk Terrier, is more than just a pet. He's a steadfast friend, a source of comfort and a guardian. Data shows homeless women are at an increased risk of violence and harassment. My latest for @kpbs: https://t.co/IoZZYhTCGm
