JOHANNESBURG - A whole new budget will have to be tabled, after the 0.5% VAT increase was reversed. The Finance Minister decided to not implement the VAT hike after major push back from political parties. READ: Proposed VAT increase reversedPolitical parties, some in the GNU, and some outside, are calling out the DA for claiming victory over the scrapping of the VAT hike. It is not yet clear when the new budget will be tabled, or when the division of revenue and appropriation bills will be decided.
