IWe were more than a little excited about attending Collaboration Fest this year. Shockingly, I had never been, and I knew it was popular with brewers (the Colorado Brewers Guild hosts it). In the past, we went to so many beer festivals that I’d always let this one slip away and not apply for media tickets. We hadn’t been to a beer festival this year, so I decided we needed to go. I booked a room at The Westin Westminster, and we were set.

My consulting business, HeidiTown Consulting, takes me to various towns to speak on variations of my theme, Love Where You Live. If you remember, earlier this year I spoke in Gothenburg, Nebraska, and more recently at IN THE GAME in Greeley, Colorado. On May 7, 2025, I’ll be in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to speak at Boost Your Business. This series brings a handful of speakers to the area this spring. They will present on everything from marketing to consumer behavior.

Years ago, as a freshman in college, I had a short-lived crush on a drummer in our school’s renowned jazz band. During that moment, I became a big fan of jazz bands and learned of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado. Why? My school was a thousand miles away from the UNC, but, as it turns out, they had a renowned jazz band too. So, Greeley has been on my radar for a long time.

I like history, but I don’t love all history. Dinosaurs are cool, but I enjoy human history, even the ancient stuff. Our travel, over the last five years, has been inspired by the books we’re reading. When I write “reading,” it means listening because Ryan and I are addicted to Audible. Ryan devours books because he listens while he builds furniture.

The Heidi Guide ventures into a Colorado mountain wonderland. There’s a spot on the Western Slope where skiing in the morning can be followed by wine tasting in the afternoon and it is Palisade, Colorado. We stayed at the dog-friendly Spoke & Vine Motel. Lodging here comes with delivery of coffee or tea, yogurt and granola, and a banana every morning, and we took full advantage. Palisade is a town of 2,600, loads of wineries, lots of sculptures and several excellent eateries.
