The city of Hialeah is naming a street after the late Lincoln Diaz-Balart. The Cuban-American Republican politician and attorney from Havana, Cuba died last month following a battle with cancer. After representing Miami-Dade County in both chambers of the Florida Legislature, Diaz-Balart was elected to Congress in 1992 and remained until 2011. He was an advocate for immigrants and staunch critic of Fidel Castro’s Regime in Cuba.

Two young boys, dressed in Abercrombie sweaters and steeped in a sepia filter, sit in front of a piano and introduce their song about standing up to bullies. They warble about sticks and stones breaking their bones but words won’t break them down. “Stand Up,” as the song is called, is just one of many in their adolescent discography. “There's another song called ‘Redemption’ about redeeming your love for someone. And we're like 12, so it's pretty funny,” said Boca Raton native Justin Koolik.

From now on, whenever D.J. Khaled sings "These Streets Know My Name" he isn't kidding around. Popular song titles and artists with Miami ties will soon serve as the namesakes for a number of streets in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood. The Miami-Dade County Commission approved the plan this week. The measure passed 9 to 3. Now, streets between Northwest 18th and 19th Avenues will honor artists including Trick Daddy, Trina, Uncle Luke Rick Ross -- and D.J. Khaled. READ MORE:

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is hosting a free health fair in Allapattah this weekend. Attendees, with and without insurance and regardless of immigration status, may attend. Medical professionals will be on site to perform health screenings — including breast exams to dental screenings, mental health screenings, as well as vision and hearing exams. The health fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Village of Allapattah YMCA Family Center.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced plans to help Miami Beach with its spring break crackdown. The governor applauded the city for its efforts to make the popular tourism period safer for all visitors and residents during a press conference at Z Hotel Miami in Miami Beach on Thursday.
