A decade after a massive wildlife rescue in southern Palawan exposed the illegal trafficking of nearly 4,000 turtles, the Katala Foundation Inc. has released the captive-bred descendants of those survivors back into the wilds, marking a milestone in the fight to save the critically endangered Palawan forest turtles. On World Turtle Day, Katala Foundation, Inc. (KFI) released them into their natural habitats in Roxas, in the hopes of repopulating the species’ diminishing numbers in the wild.
