Did someone say cheese and pineapple? The Barbican are going back to in time, with a film season dedicated to Queer cinema of the 1970s. Queer 70s: LGBTQ+ Cinema in the Decade after Stonewall is a poetic theme for Britain’s most famous brutalist building, but this programme is anything but hard and functional. Rather, it’s an unexpected reveal of a lush Queer world.

RAF Veteran Liz Stead has spoken to the BBC about her criminal record for “perceived same-sex sexual activity.” She was thrown out of the RAF in 1969 after bosses discovered a love letter from her girlfriend. However, she was unaware this also came with a criminal record, which she only discovered last December. She learnt of the criminal record when applying for the scheme awarding financial redress for veterans who were sacked during a ban on homosexuality in the armed forces.

There are certain events that can only happen in Mayfair. A luxury erotic performance art salon is one of them. Down the carpeted stairs and wood-pannelled walls of Dear Darling, the Sublime Society is about to make its London debut. It would not be at home in a grubby warehouse, or on a cabaret stage to an audience of sweaty, sticky club-goers. It has the heady flavour which is all too-often missing in modern sex: opulence.

The Met Gala 2025 theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” not only brought out incredible fits, but fixed attention on the Black artists, designers and stylists who are shaping culture and fashion. The Met Gala theme supports this year’s Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute exhibition on Black dandyism, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. It is also a tribute to Vogue legend Andre Leon Talley, who died in 2022.

I've just learnt of the death of @PeteKrykant_OPC, a fearless drug harm reduction campaigner, at 48. Few worked as hard as Peter towards decriminalisation. He just wanted to help people stay alive, and live with dignity. Many people would be dead without him. He will be missed.
