    The living room was dark apart from the pale bluish light from my laptop screen. I sat, islanded in the middle of the sofa, hugging my knees. Everything seemed to contract around me, pulled into the bright pixels of the image I was looking at. A woman’s naked shoulders. A man’s hands tight around her neck, choking her. A face I knew better than any other, grinning from the frame. It was me. It was not me. My hands were trembling. I took a gulp of wine, spilling it on my jeans.
