Helen Rose OutdoorsIn the autumn Bearsden and Milngavie Ramblers https://www.bearsdenandmilngavieramblers.org.uk/ arranged a walking trip to El Rompido on Huelva’s Costa De La Luz through Saga Group Holidays https://holiday.saga.co.uk/ This was my sixth trip abroad with the group and as there is so much organisation required, they decided to use the travel company group booking for the flights, transfers, hotel and walking.

December 2024In the autumn, the Glasgow Health Culture Rambling Club organised a walk in Edinburgh travelling on the Citylink coach from Glasgow. As the group were all over 60, we had concession cards giving free bus travel in Scotland. When we left Glasgow, it was sunny but as we approached Edinburgh there was a thick haar from the North Sea – Edinburgh is on the east coast of Scotland. Very different from last month when I wrote about the sunny weather on the North Sea at St Andrews.

Kingsbarns is a village and parish in Scotland near the eastern coast of Fife in an area known as the East Neuk, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) southeast of St Andrews and 3.6 miles (5.8 km) north of Crail.

This was our base for a circular walk with the Bearsden and Milngavie Ramblers https://www.bearsdenandmilngavieramblers.org.uk/ A coach had been arranged for the return journey of about two and a half hours to Dumfries and Galloway area..

Helen Rose OutdoorsLismore is an Inner Hebridean island near Oban. The island is approximately 10 miles long by 1 mile wide. The island was called the ‘Great Garden’ because it is relatively low lying, and very green and fertile compared with the mountains of Mull, and on the mainland. High LineBelieve it or not, the High Line was once destined for demolition. Luckily, the community rallied together to repurpose it instead, creating the park you see today, for everyone to enjoy.

Helen Rose OutdoorsThe HF Glasgow Outdoor Club https://www.meetup.com/Glasgow-HF-Outdoor-Club/ arranged a weekend in my favourite Island of Arran. I have been going there annually for over twenty years and it is always enjoyable. The island is situated off the Ayrshire coast about an hour’s drive from Glasgow to the ferry over to Brodick which takes less than an hour.

The Glasgow HF Outdoor Club arranged a weekend in Oban over the Easter holiday. https://www.meetup.com/Glasgow-HF-Outdoor-Club/ and it gave the opportunity to revisit Seil Island, Easdale and Kerrera so I knew what to expect.
