She succeeds Perminder Mann, CEO of Simon & Schuster, who remains an officer of the PA. Hill, managing director of academic at Cambridge University Press and Assessment (CUP), took on the presidency at the PA’s AGM, which was held on Wednesday 7th May at the Royal Society in central London.

Entrepreneur and founder of Putnam Investments, Doug Putman – who owns HMV UK and Toys "R" US Canada – has launched a new publishing business alongside Pete Selby, formerly of Bonnier Books UK, whose role is managing director. Putman Publishing and its first imprint, New Modern, will publish its first book in August 2025 with a further six titles before the end of the year, followed by 12 to 15 titles each year from 2026 onwards.
