Kolberg’s Trevor Reinhardt (2) delivers a pitch May 18 against Institute. File Photo by Kevin Boneske. He was the 2022 Pitcher of the Year, and he’s a perennial in that discussion. The exception was last year, when he was coming off Tommy John surgery. Limited to a few brief mound appearances, all he did was hit .429, and finished second in batting to his first cousin, Spencer Krause, (.431). He plays a really good shortstop. He runs the bases like a whirlwind.

Maplewood’s Jeremiah Jahnke is back on the mound this season after being named the Door County League’s pitcher of the year in 2024. File photo by Kevin Boneske. Virtually every Door County League team has an identity, a persona, a whatever-you-want-to-call-it. The Islanders are very Brooklyn-Dodger like – the feisty team with the pugnacious fans. Sister Bay has the quiet confidence that comes with a long run of success, like the Yankees of yore. Kolberg is smart and tough.

Tom Sawyer is one of several of the “Baby Bays” who rejuvenated the team who are now old vets. File photo by Rachel Lukas. For everyone around the Door County League waiting for Sister Bay to get old – the wait continues. Thanks to Trevor Reinhardt, who will be in the hunt for the Door County League batting championship and Pitcher of the Year, Kolberg was in position to shove the Bays into a rocking chair in their dramatic season opener.

The 2025 Door County League Hall of Fame class (Left to right) Jody Viste, Jeff Sperber, Jesse Miller, Bill Becker, Ryan Tanck, Willie Schartner, Robbie Schartner, Chris Colombo, Dave Jilot and Travis Leroy. Submitted. To the men who play it and the many people who follow it, the Door County League isn’t just about baseball. It is about celebrating a county’s rich tradition. About young men coming of age, learning life values from their elders. And doing it all with a healthy dose of fun.
