1 INTRODUCTION As the creation of profit-making ventures from another individual's body is prohibited under international law, regulations have developed over decades to limit trade in human-derived products and the resulting harms. Frameworks now exist in national and regional law, produced by regulatory bodies, for the collection, production and distribution of a wide range of human-derived products, including notably blood, tissues, organs and cells.
