Editors, I read with great interest the manuscript by Shiha et al. [1], in which they evaluated the use of risk stratification models to predict the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with hepatitis C who had achieved a sustained virologic response (SVR). Whereas previous studies evaluated the performance of post-SVR HCC prediction models by retrospective analyses of prospectively followed-up cohorts, this study validated some of these models in two prospective cohorts.
