The lawsuit argues that 17 private elite universities, including Emory, were involved in the 568 Presidents Group, which was formed in 1998 and required all involved institutions to practice need-blind admissions.

Krisha Patel, a sophomore at Oxford College who was known to many as caring, thoughtful and genuine to friends and strangers alike, died on Dec. 3, 2023 at 19 years old. She is survived by her mother, Parul Patel, and her father, Bimal Patel. Born in Bellflower, Calif. on May 22, 2004 before moving to Irvine, Calif. as a child, Krisha was a “happy-go-lucky” kid who wore princess dresses and tiaras to school.

Former Associate Professor of Internal Medicine Neil Shulman (71M, 72MR), who was known by colleagues and friends for his quirky attitude and distinct sense of humor, died on Nov. 6 at 78 years old. Shulman, a researcher, writer, humanitarian and comedic actor, is survived by his wife, Anna Zoe Haugo, and their 17-year-old son, Myles Shulman. Shulman dedicated much of his life to Emory University.

Emory University community members are pushing to establish a disability identity space to give neurodivergent and disabled students a relaxing space to decompress and build community on campus. Students are still developing ideas for the space, with Caroline Quan (24C) and Chloe Wegrzynowicz (24C) recently releasing an interest form to anonymously collect student input on what the space should look like and how it should function if it is created.

This is Biden’s latest show of support for the country during the recent outbreak of violent conflict in Israel and Palestine, sparked by Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. His visit is paired with his assignment of around 2,000 military troops to prepare for possible deployment to aid Israel. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded Emory University a five-year $5.6 million grant earlier this month to establish the Center for Molecular Mechanobiology.
