Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Chief Joe Fernandez doesn't need to complete his sentence for anyone to fully understand what his best advice would be during an approaching hurricane. "When it's time to go ... " he said. One of the things Fernandez fears with Village residents is complacency, something he's been trying to offset just a couple months into his new role. After all, there hasn't been a direct strike here since 1992, when mighty Hurricane Andrew steamrolled through South Florida.

Ashley Chloé Shnapier describes the tennis being played in the South Florida Women’s Doubles Tennis League in simple terms. “We’re playing for fun, but at a high level,” she said. Shnapier and her Alpha 1 teammates, based out of the Ritz-Carlton Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center on Key Biscayne, just completed another season, posting 33 wins and finishing third behind Dante Fascell Park in South Miami and Coral Oaks Tennis Club in Pinecrest.
