The halls of The Salvation Army Anaheim Red Shield come alive with music every Wednesday evening, transforming the community center into a hub of melody and rhythm as kids gather to learn, play and share their love for music. The Freer Forte music program, named after donor Lynn Freer, launched in fall 2023.

While on the path to recovery, men from The Salvation Army Santa Monica ARC volunteered to serve meals and assist those impacted by the January wildfires in California. The aroma of fresh, hot meals filled the air at Los Angeles’ Westwood Recreation Center as nine men from The Salvation Army Santa Monica Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) stood ready to serve evacuees of the historic LA wildfires.

The 50-block Tenderloin neighborhood in the heart of San Francisco is known for crime and squalor. It’s also home to the city’s highest concentration of kids—an estimated 3,000, according to U.S. News & World Report. As these kids navigate the streets, they daily witness homelessness, drug use and drug dealing.
